Rachel, I am also writing a blog concerning the Boxing Day Tsunami. I share your interest in how the tsunami affected the local economy. I would be interested to see the comparison of how Thailand and Sri Lanka's tourism rebounded. Thank you for your insight. I look forward to reading more of your posts. http://samanthacostanzo.weebly.com/blog.html
I just came across your blog on the Family Tree. Thank-you so much for taking the time to write about our shop. We really appreciate it.
Just for your information, please note that the Family Tree does not only sell products made in Hua Hin. We sell products made by community groups, small-scale family businesses, inspired artists and social and environmental initiatives from across Thailand. We do source some products from Hua Hin and the province (Prachuab Khirikan), but we generally recommend visitors to go directly to visit producers who are working in Hua Hin.
Once again, thank-you so much for your time and effort, which we sincerely appreciate.
By the way, i you are interested in responsible tourism in Thailand, I also recommend you to take a look at the website of Thailand Community Based Tourism Network (CBT-N). http://cbtnetwork.org/ and Thailand CBT Institute (CBT-I) http://cbt-i.org/
